Rui Torres (b. 1973 Porto, Portugal) studied communication, literature, and hypermedia. He is Associate Professor at University Fernando Pessoa (UFP), teaching semiotics and new media. He was a lecturer at the Erasmus Intensive Program in European Digital Literatures (Spain), and visiting professor in M.A. programmes in Portugal, Spain, Estonia, and the United States of America. He is the Founder and Director of the journal Cibertextualidades. He has publications on literature, new media, and experimental and electronic literature. He is an author of electronic literature, having his digital poems published in Anthologies, Collections, and CD-ROMs. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the ELO-Electronic Literature Organization (MIT), anda member of CELL - Consortium for Electronic Literature. He created and coordinates the Digital Archive of Portuguese Experimental Literature (http://po-ex.net), and his website with articles and works is online at http://www.telepoesis.net
